People talk about how employees and their knowledge are the company&#8217;s most valuable asset. Only several characters or characters in a specific context create data.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ffec616 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ffec616\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: 15.9pt;\">Data<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Data<\/strong> \u00a0are records of facts, numbers, words about events, calculations, or observations. They are also referred to as unordered units of information.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2ddad96 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2ddad96\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #993300;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: 15.9pt;\">Informationen<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Information<\/strong>\u00a0is a compilation of data. For example, a series of words can form a sentence that conveys understandable and assignable information. Multiple pieces of data as a data set can reveal, for example, when and where the data was collected, and connections between data can be established. To this end, the data is sorted, organized, interpreted, or placed in context so that the information can be understood and used.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3e17922 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3e17922\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: 15.9pt; color: #ff0000;\"><b><u>Knowledge<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Knowledge<\/strong> is based on information. However, the availability of large amounts of information alone does not constitute knowledge. In addition, connections, conditions, and if-then conditions must be described under which actions and decisions are supported or instructed.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">For a company, knowledge is the set of rules that recommends (can, should) or demands (must) what should be done under certain conditions. These are <strong>instructions for action<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-639c96a e-flex e-con-boxed elementor-invisible e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"639c96a\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;animation&quot;:&quot;fadeIn&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8411aea elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8411aea\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>It is therefore necessary for each company to invest effort (money, time) to develop such rules and keep them up to date.<\/p><p>Failing to record, pass on, and use knowledge means that processes are no longer stable and reliable. However, this is the basis of every company, both for internal efficiency and for customer relations.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-873e947 e-flex e-con-boxed elementor-invisible e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"873e947\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;animation&quot;:&quot;fadeIn&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5e8eb6b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5e8eb6b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Management systems<\/strong> are nothing more than knowledge repositories for describing internal processes in a binding manner and organizing access to this knowledge for all employees.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8756ba8 e-flex e-con-boxed elementor-invisible e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"8756ba8\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;animation&quot;:&quot;fadeIn&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-342a2d0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"342a2d0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>When you map company <strong>processes in the management system<\/strong>, this is nothing more than a set of rules for how departments should work together to complete a defined task in a given situation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-52e2023 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"52e2023\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A <strong>work instruction<\/strong> is comparable to a process description, which is a binding instruction on how a defined activity must be carried out within the department or work group in order to achieve a comparable result each time it is repeated by any of the possible employees.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-404756c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"404756c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A <strong>company standard<\/strong> is a binding set of rules that describes how methods or processes are to be applied. Such standards are usually formulated by experts who organize and document their knowhow (information) in a structured manner. Typical situations and conditions are described. Under these conditions, the following courses of action are to be carried out based on existing experience. A clear distinction can and should be made between mandatory and recommended instructions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2518ed9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2518ed9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Templates and checklists<\/strong> also reflect past experience. They are also instructions for action in pre-planned situations, such as filling out a form or systematically working through a checklist.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3542788 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3542788\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Whether such instructions are only agreed verbally, recorded in writing on paper or as a file, or accessed and processed digitally in the situation, they remain knowledge that is available as a set of rules in the company and has usually also been <strong>authorized by management<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8950f64 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8950f64\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This knowledge within the company only becomes effective, i.e., visible in everyday life and in economic results, when it is used. To do this, employees must know the knowledge and the rules and have easy access to them. This includes training courses that bring this knowledge to people&#8217;s attention and, more importantly, enable them to apply the knowledge correctly (abilities).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f989b2d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f989b2d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Utilization requires that the binding nature of the knowledge is maintained. It is of no use to the company to develop rules and regulations and provide training if no one or not everyone adheres to them afterwards. Compliance with the rules is therefore, in my view, an essential part of knowledge management. And this compliance means that supervisors and team members in particular must pay attention to it and demand compliance.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ed5c4fb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ed5c4fb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Of course, rules can also be outdated, incorrect, or inappropriate for the current situation. In such cases, the knowledge contained in the rules is not applicable.<\/p>\n<p>People are good at compensating for such inappropriate situations. They improvise. They change the rules. They make up their own rules or find reasons for themselves not to follow the existing rules. This then leads to typical <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/unternehmensberatung-jarosch.com\/menschliche-fehler\/\">human errors<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3d89703 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3d89703\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Now it remains to apply this knowledge in a mandatory manner.<\/p>\n<p>This applies to every company, regardless of whether it conducts research or development, manufactures products, or provides services. It also makes no fundamental difference whether the company operates internally in a conventional, authoritarian, or flat hierarchy, or whether it works in a process-oriented or agile manner.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-acd50d0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"acd50d0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>It is also true for any company that knowledge changes. If the collection of knowledge is to remain applicable, it must be kept up to date.<\/p>\n<p>I would like to discuss this under the heading \u201cLessons Learned\u201d in a next blog file.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ea43be2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ea43be2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Conclusions:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge is \u2013 not only for companies \u2013 the combination of conditions and associated instructions for action.<\/li>\n<li>A collection of information is not yet knowledge.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge \u2013 apart from scientific laws in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology \u2013 must be kept up to date. Both the boundary conditions and the necessary rules can change.<\/li>\n<li>The application of knowledge requires that users are familiar with this knowledge and that there is an authority that ensures the rules are applied and complied with.
