Develop Q Standards

You can find quality methods in well written books.
Seminars provide the basics of the method.

Additionally, in your daily workflow you have to make sure to use correct sources for data and information, you need to include responsible contact persons and team members and you need to find required formats to prepare and forward results.

Besides of a process description ( several departments work jointly for a result. What are the needed steps? Who is responsible for this step? Who needs to support? Who will receive information? Who needs to approve results?) it is helpful to develop a company specific method description. 

Such a (quality-)standard will be based on superior method descriptions. Within the company the method will work well if the numerous elements of alignment are used to create a best fitting method for the company. 

My best example is the FMEA method.

In 2019 the automotive industries of the USA and Germany, AIAG & VDA have created a harmonized FMEA manual after several years of negotiation. This book is a brilliant guideline how to do a design or a process FMEA.

But this manual does not explain

  • what to include or exclude in the scope of the FMEA in our company,
  • what is mandatory to be included,
  • what needs or may be safeguarded by a separate FMEA or by a company standard and is taken out of the FMEA scope,
  • who is authorized to take such a decision?
  • And how is there security for the person not to be accused for the decision?

This example shows: A company specific standard can and will help to make the method work in a best fit for the development process of the company.

This provides security, internally as well as in negotiations with customers.
In many cases, the superior standards and guidelines request the company to create a specific procedure, to write a company standard.

My offer is to support you in the creation of such company standards.
For a large number of processes in advanced planning I have collected lot of experience to write such documents and to negotiate the content in the company.

My book “Advanced Planning” („Vorausplanen“) deals with the basics of  major methods.
And it is an example how to align the methods to create a consistent chain of processes and results – in best case in a standardized format.
